Find your situation.

Training is the right answer in some situations and part of a broader answer in others. The four situations below are where training has the most direct impact.

01

The Implementer

I'm rolling out OKRs. I need my team to actually know how to use them.

  • Leadership has committed to OKRs — now you need to bring the rest of the organisation with you
  • Team members are writing outputs disguised as outcomes, or haven't engaged at all
  • A well-facilitated training session early in the rollout makes the first cycle significantly easier to run
02

The Fixer

OKRs are running. The writing is poor and nobody takes them seriously.

  • Teams write OKRs because they have to, not because they find them useful
  • Key Results are activity lists or vanity metrics — not genuine outcome measures
  • A retraining programme can reset habits and raise the quality of the practice across the board

03

The Introducer

I've used OKRs before. I want to build genuine internal capability here.

  • You know what good looks like — you need to transfer that capability to your new organisation
  • You don't want a one-off workshop that people forget in a week
  • Building internal OKR coaches means the practice can scale without depending on external support
04

The Capability Builder

I need internal OKR coaches. We can't rely on external support indefinitely.

  • Your organisation is large enough that a single implementation partner can't reach every team
  • You need people inside the business who can facilitate OKR sessions, coach teams and run reviews
  • Training internal coaches is a better long-term investment than recurring external facilitation

Training works when it changes what people do, not just what they know.

Most OKR training teaches the theory. Ours is designed around the gap between understanding OKRs and being able to write and use them well. Three principles run through every programme we deliver.

Delivered by practitioners, not academics

Every trainer has designed and run OKR systems inside real organisations — not just studied the methodology. The content comes from what we have seen fail and what we have seen work, not from a textbook.

You write your own OKRs in the session

Every facilitator-led programme includes live OKR writing exercises. Participants draft real OKRs for their actual team and receive coached feedback in the room. You leave with OKRs for your team, not just an understanding of OKRs in the abstract.

Bespoke to your organisation and context

We adapt every programme to your strategy, your language and the specific challenges your teams face. Nothing is off-the-shelf. Before any session, we spend time understanding your context so the training lands on day one.

Four ways we train teams and individuals

Every programme is tailored to your context. If you are not sure which fits best, a free 30-minute call will give you a clear recommendation.

When training is the answer — and when it is not.

Training builds capability. It does not fix structural problems. Here is where the distinction matters.

Training is the right answer when…

  • Your OKR framework is already designed and people just need to know how to use it well
  • Leadership is engaged and will model OKR behaviour — the cultural conditions are there
  • Your operating model is in place (check-ins, reviews, scoring) and the problem is capability, not structure
  • You have internal OKR champions who need structured development to become effective coaches
  • You are building for a specific cohort — a new team, a new cycle, a promotion round

Training alone won't fix it when…

  • You are starting OKRs from scratch with no framework, cascade design or operating model in place
  • Previous attempts failed not because people didn't understand OKRs, but because nobody designed the system
  • Leadership is not engaged — people will learn, but without leadership modelling, the practice won't stick
  • The problem is structural: bad cascade, misaligned objectives, or no governance around the cycle

In these cases, training is more effective as part of a broader engagement.

Questions about OKR training

The questions we hear most often — answered as directly as we can.

What is the difference between OKR Team Training and OKR Leadership Training?

Team training is for the people writing and using OKRs day to day — it covers what OKRs are, how to write them well and how to embed them into existing team rhythms. Leadership training is for senior leaders setting the strategic OKRs that teams will cascade from — it focuses on alignment, delegation and creating the conditions for their people to succeed. Both programmes include live OKR writing exercises; the difference is scope, audience and the strategic questions each group faces.

Can training alone implement OKRs in our organisation?

Training builds the capability for people to write and use OKRs well. It does not design the framework, establish the operating rhythms or create the governance structures that make OKRs work organisation-wide. If you are starting OKRs from scratch — or restarting after a failed attempt — you will typically need implementation support alongside training. If your framework is already designed and the problem is that people are not using it well, training alone is often the right answer.

How long are your training programmes?

Team training and leadership training typically run as half-day or full-day sessions, depending on the scope and experience level of participants. OKR Implementer Training is a multi-session programme, usually delivered across three to four sessions. The online course is self-paced and most people complete it in six to eight hours.

Can you run training in-house for our organisation?

Yes — all facilitator-led programmes (Team Training, Leadership Training and Implementer Training) can be delivered in-house. In-house delivery is the most common format, as it allows us to build sessions around your actual OKRs, your team's context and the specific challenges you are trying to solve. Before any session, we run a brief intake conversation to understand your situation.

Do your training programmes include certification?

The OKR Mastery Package and the Implementer Training both include Credly-verified OKR certification. Certification is available as an add-on for other programmes. Our certifications are issued via Credly and shareable on LinkedIn.

How is your training different from a standard OKR workshop?

Most OKR workshops teach the theory. Ours include live OKR writing exercises where participants draft real OKRs for their own team and receive coached feedback in the session. We also build every programme around your organisation's specific context — your strategy, your language and the challenges your teams face. You do not leave with an understanding of OKRs in the abstract; you leave with OKRs for your team.

Who delivers the training?

All training is delivered by OKR practitioners — people who have designed and run OKR systems inside real organisations. Mike Horwath, Founder of The OKR Hub, leads complex and leadership-level programmes personally. We do not use sub-contracted facilitators who have not been through our own OKR practice.
